Culture 2.0
My thought,
a DE system (culture 2.0) that would be used to teach about culture.
Cultural studies professors and students from all over the world join my Culture Web 2.0™ virtual world
Students would then "reside" in their own "nation". They would then use video to record 5 to 7 min clips of cultural events. The cultural clips would then be stored in their relevant "country".
In addition to collecting their own cultural clips they could also “travel” to other "countries" and view other users clips, they would do this so that they may gain a better understanding of different cultures.
In addition to viewing cultural clips students will be able to text, voice or video chat using a translator. The chat will be used so students around the world can interact with each other and gain a deaper understanding of culture by asking questions and/or telling stories that relate.
A proposed assignment uinverstiy assignment: A Service provided by Culture Web 2.0™, professors (Form around the world) will register there students and Culture Web 2.0™ will link students. (users can suggest "cuntries" they would like to "visit"). Culture Web 2.0™ would then facilitate the assignment.
Users will then connect with their “friend” from different parts of the world and "travel" together to a third "country" to ciew cultural clips. students will then record their colective perspectives on the cultural. The next week and the week after they will rotate(Example: a student from USA and Spain would “get together” and travel to south Africa). At the end of the project students will compile their collective information and then submit a paper on the analysis.
